What Placeit does well
Placeit is a large online library of mockups and design templates: devices, clothing, print, logos and short video templates, all in the browser. A subscription gives unlimited downloads with a commercial licence, and it's a good fit for sellers who need many product images quickly.
Where Mockup Center is different
Placeit's device mockups are fixed scenes: you upload a screenshot and get back that photo. You can't change the angle or the light, and the video templates are short clips with set motion.
Mockup Center gives you control. 65 3D devices you can turn to any angle, light that moves with a shadow that follows, 57 animations you line up on a timeline, plus more than 250 photo mockups. Exports go up to 8K, with transparent PNG, WebM and ProRes 4444.
Placeit is a monthly subscription; Mockup Center Premium is paid once. Your screenshots also stay on your Mac instead of being uploaded to render.
Which one should you pick?
For T-shirts, mugs, logos and a big variety of print mockups, Placeit is useful. For app and website mockups, videos and 3D scenes, Mockup Center is the more capable tool.
